Annual Book Review

The annual FOKL Book Review for 2021 will take place in the Main Hall at the Village Centre on Wednesday 1st December starting at 11.45. Come and join us for this festive occasion and share what you have been reading, or just come to hear what others have been reading. Full details below.

The Friends will provide mulled wine and soft drinks. You are encouraged to bring a plate of finger food to share, but this isn’t compulsory. There are no tickets and the event is free, though donations to cover our expenses are welcome.

Your review can be of any genre of book, fiction, non-fiction, biography etc., profound or trivial. Remember that if you have enjoyed reading it then others probably will too. You can review a book or a series of books. Please include the author’s name, the title of the book and a couple of sentences about why you enjoyed it; so as not to mar others enjoyment of the book don’t give away vital plot details! It’s helpful if the book is available from the Oxfordshire Libraries service, though all recommendations are welcome.

You can download the review form is here, or you can pick up copies from Kennington Library. Completed forms can be dropped off at the library or you can bring them on the day. Alternatively you can send the same information by email to Helen, the FOKL Secretary, at . Please don’t use any other email address and don’t reply to this email or your review might get lost.

We will be delighted if you want to speak about your review on the day, but there is absolutely no compulsion to do this. After the event the reviews will be compiled into a FOKL Best Reads of 2021 list which will be made available to everyone sometime after the event.

The event will take place in the large main hall at the Village Centre. You are encouraged to wear a face covering except when eating or drinking. For the sake of everyone please do not attend if you feel unwell. Note that we may have to restrict admission to maintain social distancing and we will, of course, comply with any Government restrictions applicable at the time. Thanks and we hope to see you there!
