DECEMBER

AUTHOR TALK by JUDY STUBLEY

Wednesday 5th December @ 11.00 a.m. (coffee from 10.30 a.m.)

Judy Stubley was previously Birmingham’s community arts organiser, and throughout her varied and often challenging working life she never gave up her dream of writing.  Upon retiring and moving to Shippon, she found time to produce two books, including Sixty Spooky, Strange and Surprising stories about Abingdon.  This fascinating history of Abingdon over ten centuries, is written through the eyes of a ghost monk called Cedric, and thus, we are entertained in a livelier way.  Judy’s other interest is Life Writing, and she is exceptionally enthusiastic about personal writing projects.

SEPTEMBER

AUTHOR TALK  by IAN JOHNSTONE on Wednesday 4th September @ 11 a.m. (coffee from 10.30 a.m.)

’The Bell Between Worlds’ is Ian’s celebrated first book and the first in The Mirror Chronicles trilogy.  His publisher, Harper Collins, has likened Ian’s storytelling to that of Philip Pullman and C.S. Lewis.  His core audience is children and young adults, but this book is termed crossover fiction because it offers a splendid read for those who are seeking a fantastical escape and adventure.

We have a summer break from Coffee Mornings and adult events;  talks etc.  The summer is devoted to the children’s Summer Read – we need volunteers.  If you would like to help contact Dominique at the Library.   Author talks restart in September
